Stagehand

Future Position Available:
Stagehand – Wisconsin Valley Fair

Location: Wausau, WI

Position Type: Part-Time

Salary: $15/hour

Duration: Starting a day or two prior to the fair, depending on when the stage is in town; approximately July 30-August 6, 2026

The Wisconsin Valley Fair is seeking reliable individuals to work as stagehands for stage set up and live events. If you enjoy behind-the-scenes work, this job is for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and break down stage equipment including lights, sound gear and props
  • Assist with rigging, loading/unloading trucks and moving heavy equipment
  • Work with production staff to ensure smooth transitions and show operations
  • Maintain safety standards on stage and backstage
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Able to life 50 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments
  • Must follow directions well and work safely under pressure

Marketing Director

Now Hiring: Part-Time Marketing Director – Wisconsin Valley Fair

Location: Wausau, WI (partially remote if desired)

Position Type: Part-Time

Salary: $8,500 base with commission available

Duration: Year-round; 4-8 hours per week from September-May, more hours in the summer; must be available for fair week (late July-early August); approximately 400 hours annually

The Wisconsin Valley Fair is seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly organized part-time Marketing Director to lead and execute marketing efforts for our beloved annual fair! This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a vibrant community tradition and help drive attendance, engagement, and sponsorships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current sponsorship relationships and contracts
  • Identify and recruit potential new sponsors
  • Facilitate in-kind arrangements for products and services
  • Preferred: manage specific service agreements as needed
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Self-motivated worker with good technology skills
  • Familiarity with fairs, festivals, or community events is a plus
  • Flexible schedule, with availability for key event dates

Set Up Crew

Location: Wausau, WI

Position Type: Seasonal

Salary: Starting wage of $10/hour

Duration: Employment of approximately three weeks, starting July 27-August 14, 2026. Hours TBD

The Wisconsin Valley Fair is seeking a dependable set up crew!

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with setting up of fair materials--tables, risers, display items
  • Perform basic maintenance and groundskeeping tasks
  • Report to Parks Dept and fair leadership
  • Takedown after event is complete
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Dependable and punctual
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors
  • Must be at least 14 (with a labor permit); is often a great "first job" for kids but anyone can apply
